1988 – 1994 Assistant Professor,
Department of Biology, Texas A&M University, College
Station, TX USA
I funded my research in plant molecular biology and
genetics with federal and state grants for RFLP analysis
of protein modifier genes, clonal analysis of root development,
phytohormone regulation of gene expression, and plant
pest resistance. I published eight peer-reviewed research
papers, developed and taught five new graduate-level
courses on genetics and molecular biology, and served
as Interim Director of the Advanced DNA Technologies
Laboratory.
1984-1988 Postdoctoral Fellow, Division of
Plant Industry, CSIRO, Canberra, A.C.T., Australia
I was funded by the US National Science Foundation
to work with the Australian government to develop plant
transposable element-based vectors for plant transformation
and genetic analysis. This work was one of the earliest
studies to demonstrate activity of maize transposable
elements in transgenic tobacco.
1978-1980 Research Technician, University of
Massachusetts, Amherst, MA USA
My research on E.coli tRNA/ribosome interactions led
to a first-author publication in Biochemistry and an
additional paper in the Proceedings of the National
Academy of Science. |
